Conan the Cimmerian is using his cunning and daring tales of his exploits to save the day and teach some rouges a lesson. Conan is relaxing at a bar when two thieves are causing trouble and robbing the owner and other guests in the bar. Conan politely tells the two men to stop harassing the patrons, but as the two thieves bluster about their triumphs Conan hurls them across the bar. Conan befriends the men after the altercation, and starts telling them a story of his own thieving ways.

Conan tells the men that he stole the jewels of a nobleman and fought off his guards and escaped to the bar for solace. The two men, after hearing Conan's tale, decide that they must have his stolen loot. But by using his skill as a liar and a rogue himself, Conan is able to turn the tables on the robbers.

The story, written by Kurt Busiek, is very, very good; he captures the bawdiness and behavior of the barbarian thief precisely. The artwork by Cary Nord and Thomas Yeates is good. The pencil work in some panels looked rushed; they have the character outlines but no detail. The coloring by Dave Stewart is very good, with the use of earth tones and shadowy layers bringing out the pencil work very well.

The book is a very good read and the story sets up Conan for future adventures. The Bone Woman: is she friend or foe? I would be interested to see what she has in store for CONAN.
