DC Comics makes a landmark decision to feature artists as well as writing in a prestige format book called Solo. The first artist featured is Tim Sale. Tim has collaborated with writer Jeph Loeb frequently and together they have put out some outstanding work. (e.g. Superman for All Seasons). The six short stories involve a who’s who of DC Comics’ best writers.

“Date Knight,” written by Darwyn Cooke and colored by Dave Stewart, involves the Catwoman and Batman courting as only they can do in Gotham City.

“Christina,” written and drawn by Tim Sale, puts the reader in the middle of a love triangle, and illustrates what can happen when your back is pinned against the wall and what few options you have to make things right.

“Young Love,” written by Diana shultz and colored by Dave Stewart, centers on the love of Supergirl's life and how the relationship changes through the years.

“Prom Night,” written by Jeph Loeb and colored by Jose Villarrubia, takes you back to Smallville where a young Clark Kent experiences his first prom with Lana Lang.

“Low Card in the Hole,” written by Brian Azzarello is a tale of revenge, love, and horror and what can happen when the woman that you left for dead comes back to haunt you.

“I Concentrate On You,” written and drawn by Tim Sale, is a tale dedicated to his mom and dad, about a loving couple who needs a little convincing of each other's love.

Superheroes have other lives. Yes they save the world and can stop so many climatic battles with super villains, but this book deals with a side of the heroes or heroines we never see. The reader can feel the emotions as well as see what is happening before your eyes. The writing is outstanding; all the writers really put themselves in this project and Tim Sale lovingly put his vision to the words.
